AFL Asia in conjunction with the Shanghai Tigers are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the AFL Asia 2019 Shanghai Cup at the Wellington College on Saturday June 1st. After a downsized tournament in 2018 due to the AFL game being played on the Saturday and the Shanghai Cup on the Sunday, we are aiming to build on the foundations and successes of the inaugural Shanghai Cup in 2017, which will again be open to footy clubs/teams from all over the world.

2019 Shanghai Cup Overview

In 2019, we are planning to have 4 Divisions – Open Men’s, Masters Men’s, Women’s & Juniors, which is exciting to say the least! The tournament will have an AFLX focused format, with squad sizes of up to 20 players, which includes 12 players on the field – 4 Forwards, 4 Midfielders & 4 Defenders. For those of you who haven’t played AFLX, it’s an exciting format, that’s free flowing and entertaining!

The AFL Asia 2019 Shanghai Cup Tournament organizers want to reward those clubs/teams who register during the Early Bird Registration period (until January 31st), with reduced registration fees. Registration Fees Payment Details will be provided in the new year.

AFL Asia Game Day Experience

Thanks to the innovative and forward thinking of Port Adelaide Power and the AFL we’ve been potentially provided with a wonderful opportunity to build our AFL Asia brand on the big stage during the Port Adelaide Power vs. St Kilda game, by having access to the same VIP Grassed Area that was used to host the Gold Coast Suns dignitaries and patrons over the past 2 years. Of course one of the day’s highlights will again be the AFL Asian Lions taking on the Team AFL China Dragons in the curtain closer.

We are advertising, marketing and branding the VIP Area as the ‘AFL Asia Game Day Experience Package’, which includes a 5 Hours Drink Package, Game Day Ticket in the AFL Asia VIP Area and an Official Game Day Hat. There is a limited amount of tickets available, with only 200 on offer at $AUD250/person.

It must be stated that there is no food available as part of the AFL Asia Game Day Experience Package. Food is available within General Admission areas, however the service of alcohol will not be available in General Admission areas as has been the case in previous years.

As part of the process of ensuring that AFL Asia is able to secure the proposed VIP Area for our AFL Asia Game Day Experience Package, we are required to get a sufficient amount of people to register their interest and/or purchase their packages. We are expecting further information in the new year from Port Power and the AFL as to how you can purchase your packages.

The deadline for Registrations of Interest is January 31st, which is aimed to encourage people within the AFL Asia network to register their interest and/or purchase their packages before the remaining packages become available to the general public from February 1st.

AFL Asia is also seeking 2 Commerical Partners to be a part of our exciting AFL Asia Game Day Experience, which will allow them to advertise their brand name and logo on the big stage in front of a huge telecast audience, that was last year recorded as the most watched AFL match in the game’s history! For more details please AFL Asia President, Matt Gale –

The AFL Asia 2019 Shanghai Cup promises to be our biggest yet, whilst the AFL Asia Game Day Experience Package is going to an outstanding addition to what is already a jam-packed weekend. Get on board and register your club/team before the Early Bird Registrations closes on January 31st and whilst you’re at it confirm that you and your mates will be a part of all the action by purchasing your AFL Asia Game Day Experience Package!
