Registrations for the Shanghai Cup have now closed and we have 14 teams in the Open and Masters divisions and a junior/Auskick comp.

We are now looking for umpires, goal umpires and volunteers to help us out at the Shanghai Cup and are giving AFL Asia member clubs first opportunity to fill these spots. All volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to the AFL match on the Sunday with Lv1 accredited umpires also receiving $25 per game they umpire. Please email grant.keys@afl-asia.com if you or anyone in your club is coming along to Shanghai and can help out on the day.

The historic first AFL game for premiership points between the Power and Suns will follow on Sunday 14th at Jiangwan Stadium, with exciting news for local player development efforts in Asia that a Team China vs a combined Team AFL Asia local player game will be played directly following the AFL game.

TICKETS AND PACKAGES FOR SHANGHAI 2017
Following the unprecedented demand for tickets for the historic Port Adelaide vs Gold Coast game to be played in Shanghai on Sunday 14 May (all reserve tickets sold out in record time) AFL Asia in conjunction with PAFC and our official AFL Asia Shanghai Cup travel partner Freedom Road Destinations are happy to make available a limited amount of Grandstand Terrace tickets along with our AFL Asia Shanghai Cup Packages and give you the opportunity to raise money for your club through the selling of them.

As part of their sponsorship of the Shanghai Cup, Freedom Road Destinations are offering generous commissions on all of their Shanghai Cup and China Free’N’Easy packages, which will be split 50/50 between AFL Asia and the Club from where that booking originated from.

The offer will be extended throughout 2017, so if anyone within your wider network books a China Free’N’Easy tour through ray.petts@freedomroaddestinations.com this year your commissions will be calculated and included in your club’s annual fees invoice. All they have to do is mention the name of your club to Ray at the time of booking.

Team China vs AFL Asia Lions
In an another exciting development for footy in Asia, I’m happy to announce arrangements for an all-Asian local player feature game, which will immediately follow the Port v GC game on Jiangwan Stadium on Sunday 14 May. The AFL and PAFC have confirmed this Team China vs AFL Asia match will be a full 18-a-side, 4x12min game, providing us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best local talent in Asia.

Arrangements are progressing with players from Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Vietnam and Lao all expected to feature in the AFL Asia Lions squad and PAFC recruit Chen Shaoling expected to suit up for Team China. Keep an eye out for further news about this game on our website in the coming days, including an opportunity to purchase a limited edition Lions jumper.
