The Thailand Tigers AFL Club and Bangkok Auskick and Junior AFL have been working with disadvantaged Thai boys from the Klong Toey Slums in Bangkok with the assistance of the Duang Prateep Foundation and UNOH (Urban Neighbours of Hope Foundation – UNOH Thailand).
Bangkok Auskick President Phil Stevens said “we began by running clinics in their community and now we bus them to our Auskick Sessions. We have provided the boys with Auskick backpacks and footballs and have organised charity drives to provide them with Running Shoes and Football Boots.
“The Thai boys have been introduced to our great game of Australian Rules Football and they have even been introduced to that great Aussie tradition of a Sausage Sizzle after matches, which they enjoyed immensely. Two of the older boys have shown some impressive skills and played in the Thailand Tigers Domestic Grand Final the previous week.” Stevens said.
Congratulations to all involved and we look forward to seeing some of this local talent starring for the Thailand Tigers in future years.
The Thai Reds 7.10 – 66 defeated the Thai Blues 1.1 – 7. Best On Ground and Best Goal Kicker was Bia.
